Sir, Mo Mowlam's recent comments to Saga magazine that the Royal Family should vacate the royal palaces in favour of more modern accommodation once again reveals the hidden republicanism of a large section of the Parliamentary Labour Party.
The Labour Government's obsession with all that is modern fails to recognise the very substantial part the constitutional monarchy has played in the continuous political stability this country has enjoyed for many centuries.
It is time that the Prime Minister slapped down ministers who undermine the traditions that the British people hold dear.
Yours faithfully,
