During the recent freezing conditions a section of the perimeter wall at King George V Park in Wordsley on Bells Lane collapsed. Chris Kelly, Prospective Conservative MP for Dudley South, today joined Wordsley Conservative Councillors Geoff Southall & Ena Blood to inspect the damage. Chris Kelly, Cllr Mrs Blood, Cllr Harry Nottingham & John Jones, Prospective Conservative Council candidate for Wordsley, joined Cllr Southall's call ahead of the Brierley Hill Area Committee meeting on Thursday 4 February for Dudley MBC to investigate the possibility of using Section 106 monies to re-build the wall. Wordsley Conservatives are pressing the Council to re-build the wall using the original bricks rather than replacing the downed section with railings. The section which has collapsed is alongside the childrens' play area and your local Conservative Councillors feel that the screening and sound dampening provided by a wall is more appropriate.
Chris said: "We are all thankful that the collapse of the wall did not injure any children. I hope that the wall will soon be restored to its former glory. King George V Park is a beautiful open space and I know local residents feel lucky to live alongside such a glorious park with a lovely period perimeter wall."
