31/10/10 - Chris Kelly MP assists Kingswinford firm seeking export help

Chris Kelly, MP for Dudley South, has welcomed efforts by local employer, Westfield Sportscars Limited, to expand its exports to new markets, including India.
 
In a letter to Mr Kelly, Julian Turner, Managing Director of Westfield Sportscars, stated that the firm is keen "to penetrate the market in India for our cars ... and we have been very excited ... about the Prime Minister's recent visit to the country to try and push this even further."
 
Commenting on Westfield's efforts to increase its export sales, Chris Kelly said that the company is "a shining example of a hundred per cent British owned company in automotive in the West Midlands as demonstrated by the recent signing of a Malaysian deal with DRB-HICOM securing dozens of jobs in our area." Mr Kelly was therefore delighted to be able to raise the company's eagerness to export to new markets directly with his colleague Mark Prisk MP, Minister for Business, Innovation and Skills.
 
In his response, Mr Prisk praised Westfield Sportscars stating that he was "delighted to see that Westfield has already benefited greatly from its contact with UK Trade & Investment" in relation to the Malaysian deal. Mr Prisk went on to advise that Mr Turner should now go on to contact UKTI's Advanced Engineering Team "which offers dedicated, strategic support to the automotive/motorsport sector" adding that "the team has a number of ongoing initiatives aimed at India and Westfield may well be a good fit for one or more of them." Mr Prisk concluded by saying that he hopes "that UKTI can continue to help Westfield expand its overseas business."
 
Mr Kelly is keen to hear from any other businesses in Dudley South who feel they would benefit from his assistance; "after all this recovery can only be private sector led and the plethora of businesses in Dudley South will play a crucial part in turning our economy around" he concluded.
